  • Always check for leaks and don’t wait to fix or replace the part.
  • Changing gears too often, such as driving in stop-and-go traffic, contributes to overheating and should be avoided if possible.
  • Old transmission fluid may appear dark brown or red and have a burnt smell, so it is also recommended to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles.
